The AccountsIQ story

Cloud accounting pioneers

AIQ Cloud accounting software was originally conceived in 2004. Our founder Tony Connolly, a qualified Chartered Accountant and IT post-graduate, could see the potential of Cloud computing and the business benefits it would deliver.

Background & Story

Tony Connolly's vision was to create Cloud Financial Management Software (FMS) to help company directors transform the way they run and grow their business. This pioneering move gave AccountsIQ the edge in what was soon to be a fast-changing growth market. Traditional software vendors raced to adapt their on-premise applications to accommodate their Cloud ambitions, while other new entrants scrambled to catch up.

How it all began at AccountsIQ

“AccountsIQ has grown from a start-up to a leading accountancy SaaS provider that employs over 80 people and supports 4,000 businesses worldwide.” Learn more about how it all began.

The early days of Cloud computing

We launched the AIQ product in 2008, after the equivalent of 40 developer years. The AIQ software was designed by accountants and built by the original generation of Cloud developers. Its architecture was key to AccountsIQ’s success. Built only for the Cloud, AIQs flexibility and speed of deployment left traditional accounting software vendors behind. Many tried to adapt their cumbersome legacy systems for the Cloud. Others joined the race late, or not at all.
